Headquartered in London, Science in Sport plc is a leading sports nutrition business that develops, manufactures, and markets innovative nutrition products for professional athletes, sports and fitness enthusiasts and the active lifestyle community.
In 2022 we opened a state of the art 160,000 square foot manufacturing and logistics facility in Blackburn, Lancashire. As well as giving us a significant advantage in product costs and customer response time, this vertical integration allows us to have the highest standards of quality, including the highest standard of banned substance testing in the sports nutrition sector.
Both PhD and SiS, were founded in the UK, and we operate from two locations.
Hatton Garden is where our Head Office is located, with teams such as Commercial, Brand & Marketing and Technology sharing an open-plan space.

Blackburn is our 160,000 square foot manufacturing and logistics hub with the capacity to manufacture products delivering up to £200 million of annual revenue. Blackburn is also home to our Supply Chain, Customer Fulfillment, NPD, Finance and People Teams.

PhD has grown rapidly since its launch in 2005 having developed a reputation for high quality products and innovation. The range now comprises powders, bars, and supplements, including the high protein, low sugar range, PhD Smart. PhD brand ambassadors include leading endurance and strength athlete Ross Edgley.
SiS, founded in 1992, has a core range comprising gels, powders and bars focused on energy, hydration, and recovery. SiS is an performance nutrition partner to over 320+ professional teams, organisations, and national teams worldwide. SiS supplies more than 150 professional football clubs in the UK, Europe, and the USA. Brand ambassadors include the former track cyclist Sir Chris Hoy, an eleven-time world champion and six-time Olympic champion, and Eilish McColgan, who won gold in the 2022 Commonwealth Games 10,000 metres. No other performance nutrition brand works with the depth or breadth of elite partners as Science in Sport.

We have taken climate action to reduce our emissions, and offset the Company’s remaining Carbon Footprint with certified projects in Britain and around the world that reduce the amount of CO²e in the earth’s atmosphere.

All product batches are sampled at the beginning, during and end of production to achieve Informed Sport certification. It’s not just for elite athletes. We invest in regularly testing our PhD products for everyday athletes too.
Through membership of the Informed Choice & Informed Protein schemes, our PhD range is tested & verified regularly for banned substances and validation of Protein content levels.
